Getting out of prolonged flexion can be important for those who find themselves sitting at a desk throughout the day or completing mainly flexion movements in their exercise routine. This can be done with a good movement preparation routine with emphasis on extension-based positions to enhance mobility and activate the appropriate musculature. In particular, mobilizing the spine into extension and activating the rhomboids, spinal erectors, glutes, and hamstrings are impactful.
In the following video, Dr. Jason Reynolds (The Paradigm Doc) and myself talk more about extension-based positions and progressions that can be used as a means to improve recovery and/or prepare for an upcoming training session. Be sure to check him out at: Website, Facebook, Instagram.
