Garrett is a full body and long tract nerve entrapment certified, Active Release Techniques Provider. Active Release Techniques (ART) is a hands-on soft-tissue evaluation and treatment technique used to effectively treat various problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. Headaches, low back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shoulder pain, shin splints, runner’s knee, plantar fasciitis, and tennis elbow are just a few of the conditions that are quickly and permanently treated with ART. What these conditions have in common is that they are often the result of overused muscles causing the facilitation of the nervous system and restriction of natural, pain-free, movement.
Every ART session is a combination of evaluation and treatment. The ART provider uses his/her hands to evaluate tissue texture, tension, movement, and function. Dysfunctional tissues are treated by directing tension along the tissue and moving the tissue through it’s motion. It is common to see a 90% resolution of soft-tissue pain in 3-6 sessions.

“As an endurance athlete, I have been dealing with tendonitis in my right hamstring as well as a tight lower back the last several months. I met Garrett at the Nashville Triathlon Expo in February and have been going to see him the last 3 weeks for ART treatments. Just in those 3 weeks, I have seen a remarkable difference in my right leg including overall more strength / power during my runs. Garrett has been great not only with his ART treatments but he has taken the time to give me stretching and strengthening exercises that specifically target the hamstring and glute areas. Thank you Garrett for your patience and ART work as I get ready for the 2015 triathlon season..! Much appreciated, Dave” – Dave K
“I met with him for my initial session and during that time he worked on my shoulder area. The ART was not painful at all, and my shoulder was only a little sore the following day. After the initial soreness wore off (which was very minimal), I realized I could move my shoulder freely without the “locking” sensation and pain I had been experiencing. I even returned to the tennis court and played in an advanced level clinic and had no problem whatsoever. I had such good results with my shoulder I returned after a few weeks to have him work on the area around my elbow (that I had also been having some pain with since my fall). I experienced the same results after just one ART session.” – Heather S
“Garrett McLaughlin is amazing. I moved to Nashville from San Francisco at the end of July and once settled I wanted to find someone to help me with my ongoing and chronic frozen shoulder problems. I contacted Garrett through the ART website and I have to say that I have made more progress in the last 4 weeks with Garrett than I did in the previous 6 months with an ART Chiropractor in San Francisco – I had given up, thinking I would have to live with my chronic pain indefinitely. Just amazing. He uses his excellent ART training in conjunction with a customized strength and rehabilitation program so effectively. I’ve never had this kind of attention and is exactly what I’ve needed. He is the only one that has really understood how to achieve my goal of not only ‘unfreezing’ my shoulder but getting me back on track and hopefully swimming again. I haven’t felt this optimistic in over 6 years. Thank you Garrett!!!” – Alice T
